So far this kit is going together without a hitch. Started with silly putty mask to paint exhaust Metalizer Stainliess Steel, then painted frame, and detailed engine.

I heard of using Silly-Putty for masking, but never used it...I'll give it a try one of these days

For the most part, silly putty comes off fairly easily, and I have never had problem where it took the paint off. Also, when you mask with Silly Putty you won't get many problems where the paint bleeds into other areas as long as it is pressed firm on the piece you are masking. At times it may get stringy and leave some hairs that you can wipe off and you should make sure the paint is thoroughly dry before you remove it. Personally, I found I had to use it once or twice before I got the hang of it, but it works so well when you do! If you leave the putty out of its egg for a while it may tend to become harder and less sticky. When I first received my last order of Silly Putty it was kind of stiff and dry, so I put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds and then kneaded it for a while.
Also, I tried using Playdough, but the Silly Putty worked much better.
Nice to see you posting by the way!

picked up the dollar store version of silly putty a while Back ... if it's still good I'll give it a go and see what results with the dollar store stuff...

If the putty is dry you can always try to revive it by kneading it for a while or putting it in microwave for like 15 seconds.

Some more work done on the 57 Vette. Finished assembling the chasis.
Flocked the interior. The integrated assembly with the seats and the floor pan being molded in one piece made it a bit more difficult. I used a Q tip and some white glue to bond the flocking material to the interior floor.
So far this kit has gone together really nicely and has a nice level of detail, although some details like radiator hoses have been left out and the interior is not 100 percent accurate after looking at a few pictures for references.

Primed and painted the Vette this weekend with the blue base cote : Tamiya TS-58 Light Blue Pearl; which was the closest color I could find to the Chevrolet Arctic Blue of the 57 Vette. The fender indents were painted Tamiya TS-17 gloss aluminum. The final step will be the clear cote. White areas around the fender indents will be covered with foil to simulate chrome trim and will be covered up when done. The other primer area on the dash will be painted the same shade of red as the interior.
